I love this conception of great players. End of day, when somebody puts so much time into a game then they will be most likely be 'good' unless they don't really care or are just completely awful which correlate with each other anyway. It's like 10% skill and 90% being a geek, the more of a geek you become the better you will be because you are focusing on nothing else in life, and are constantly improving your perceived skill level dependent on the opportunities that you are presented based on who you know, how long you have been in the game and apart of the community. At one point, all of these players who people would consider as good players will have nerded it up for a while in their lives and had no social life even though they wouldn't admit it and would act like they are skilled without trying.
An example could be me; I couldn't aim for shit and my reactions were poor but yet I was better than most of the players who are still actively playing this game, why? because i put in the time. Thankfully I'm out of this game and community but most of these people are still stuck in it so it is unfortunate for them but god will show them the right path when the time is right.
