Spirea ownz them all.
how did u know I'm playing :P ?

btw it will be interesting because ts/vent aren't allowed
I checked out the site ;-)
lol, how exactly were the odds on this one done?
Just like many online gambling networks, GBooky offers users odds based on the percentage of votes received per team. The more votes a team receives, the more likely they are considered to win; thus reducing the available prizemoney. Of course if the unlikely team wins; some big payouts are on the way.

ah but then you also need starting odds which are then highered and lowered based on that system ;).
exactly and starting odds are always 2:2 which are then pulled more and more to the permitual odds until enough people bet
but if it starts our 50/50 for every game then the person putting the game on here has a huge advantage with highskilled teams vs say, a midskill team. Getting 50/50 odds on a game such as that is a huge payout if you have some winnings under your belt already to bet a lot. It would/should be possible to have percentages on how good a clan is for those already in the database. The two percentages would make the odds. Say a team is 75% and another 50%. You would get 2/5 odds on them. I cba working out what the odds would be so I'm not going to bother, it's an example.

BTW can we have the odds in fractions any time soon? :D
every player gets the same odds - the odds that are shown at match starting time

after you added the bet, the odds can still change - if you dont like the odds anymore, you can cancel the bet
aye, but talking about starting odds alone. You think it's fair the person that bets first gets a 50/50 shot on a near enough sure thing? If it was for real money the booky's would scream at this.

"GBooky offers users odds based on the percentage of votes received per team." The no. of votes keep changing, so the percentages do too. It's like on online booky's except online booky's have starting odds that wont bankrup them
i dont see the problem tbh - every player gets the same odds, just the player that bets first will see 2:2 when he bets, he will not get those odds
Really? See, I'm used to the normal booky's systems. Normal bookies have it so if you bet when the odds were 5/1 and they got lowered to 2/1 due to amount of bets (same goes the other way) you would get a pay out of 5/1 because thats when you made that bet. This is online and in RL (you'll get a betting slip with amount bet, odds and on whatever you bet on. Of course there is more on it but still.) Ah well, suppose it's better than nothing but if worked out correctly I belive this could be better than it is.

I <3 gambling :D.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, think it's great what gtv has done with the booky system. Just think it could be better, and I do hope it does get better :). If I knew anything about coding other than making shitty one page html pages I would offer to help with it.
the problem with the odd system you describe is that you have to have a bookkeper who makes the odds. In that case players play against the bookkeper because they try to predict the games better than he is.

We have a permutial betting system in place as its commonly used in horse races. People do not bet against a bookkeeper (the bank) but they bet against each other. This happens because the amount set on teamA multiplied by its odd is equal to the amount set on teamB multiplied by this teams odd.

The big advantage of this system is that we dont need someone who is supposed to be superclever enough to predict all games.

In permutial betting, the bank (gtv) only acts as a buffer because statistically it will always even out to zero for the bank. (Both sides have equal payouts in case of win)
payouts - löl - i could stop working :) i made 59.000 euros on clanbase in the last 6 months :P
